I’m so excited to have my paintings on display and prints for sale at Artistic Portland! It’s a co-op gallery with a bunch of great local artists, it is a definite must see with an array of different talents on display, from traditional painting to jewelry, felted arts, mixed media and many more than I can list.
So I’ve been working on my social media marketing, and admittedly, I have improved a great deal! At first I wasn’t a fan of hashtags, but now I realize the power of them when used appropriately. I have gained new followers both on Twitter and my Instagram accounts from many corners of the world, and I have seen even more artists and the varying styles that are out in the art universe. There are some crazy talented peeps out there, particularly in the handwriting and typography fields. I have always had a soft spot for graffiti and anything done in that energetic, meaningful style, and I love seeing it in various applications!
I’m currently working on a larger scale painting than what I am used to. It’s not a standard size, but I love where I have gone with it. I’m almost done, I think I have a bit of detail work to do on my clouds and the highlighting, but other than that I’m really quite happy with it. I was inspired by more graphic, clean artists that use bold colors and crisp lines, specifically from an older, simpler era in advertising. Also inspiring was the sunset I saw about a week ago. There were these beautifully long rays of sunlight that filtered through the clouds with delicacy. The photo I posted on Instagram did not do it justice, but it’s still pretty nonetheless! I wanted a more bold look, and this is what I have done so far…
It’s been a hot one in Portland, hopefully everyone is staying cool this summer!
